Last weekend, AISC's National Honor Society, led by Flor Martin and student president Vishnu Sriram led over 200 AISC and local students in an Olive Beach clean up and mural refresh.
Y1 Hee Won Hwang and Y2 Jaehun Jeong are seen here putting the finishing touches on the mural. Great job one and all!

Theory of Knowledge Presentations

Mario Grippay TOK presentation in early October

We are pleased to report that Y2 candidate Mario Grippay will be sharing his TOK presentation,

"What role does language play in the way we come to accept or reject secondhand knowledge?" (link to video here)

with the AISC Board of Directors on Wednesday, November 15, between 5 and 6 pm. Board Meetings take place in the BBT and are open to the community.

TOK presentations were given by all Y2 candidates and students in our TOK class, led by Walter Basnight, in early October. The BBT was packed with candidates' families, Y1 students and 10th grade social studies students in attendance. Please see Mr. Basnight's TOK presentation website here for more details on and links to all of the outstanding presentations.

Link to Kavya Gopinath and Nate Malone's TOK presentation: "To what extent is there value in historical judgements?" referencing the controversy about the removal of statues of Confederate leaders in the US.

Advanced Placement

We've just submitted our May 2018 AP examination planning document to the College Board. We anticipate AISC students will sit for 217 AP examinations in May, 2018, the most ever at AISC.
This year, AP Exams (AP May 2018 exam schedule here) start later than usual, with the two week period for exams running from May 7 - May 18th, with late exams (due to conflicts) May 22-24.

So far in 2018-2019

August-September, 2018 The school year 2018-19 is fully underway, with 8 weeks of classes under our belts, magnificent Discover India in the books and our Fall Break just ending.  SAISA Season 1 is in two weeks, and CHEMUN around the corner in November.  We are proud of our student leaders and athletes who balance and thrive in an environment of opportunity, collaboration, teamwork and challenge. In our AP and IB classes, first summatives are in the books, and for AP students and first year IB students, the challenges and benefits of the advanced courses have shifted from being anticipated to lived.  Students cite time management as the skill they are most challenged to strengthen, and the high-level learning environments they experience with their peers and teacher as what they appreciate most in their advanced courses. AP students, 45 of whom earned AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honors, AP Scholar with Distinction and AP International Diploma recognition, shared th...
